AcVPU/GCS

NB - You may hear clinicians refer to the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scoring system for levels of responsiveness, for first responders it is often wiser to stick with ACVPU in your patient assessment rather than using the GCS system unless confident in the system and willing to explain where patients have lost points on the GCS Scale (e.g - a patient with a GCS of 8 may have different scores in E V or M)

GCS (For trained personnel only)

15 = fully alert, coordinated and aware

3 = fully unresponsive

*Remember GCS can fluctuate and must constantly be reassessed/reviewed
