A - Airway: ensure a clear, patent airway. Use postural drainage or suction if necessary

B - Breathing: ensure your patient is breathing. WIth any airway or breathing concerns, consider using an adjunct if required

C - Circulation: Monitor the rate, rhythm and volume of a central and distal pulse. Assess skin colour and Cap Refill 

D - Disability: Check pupils for any signs of neurological emergency or intoxication

E - Expose and Examine: Appropriately expose your patient to ensure you do not miss anything 

RECOVERY POSITION

Trained Personnel - Think, what is the cause?

GCS (For trained personnel only)

15 = fully alert, coordinated and aware

3 = fully unresponsive

*Remember GCS can fluctuate and must constantly be reassessed/reviewed

If you have any suspicions your patient has been exposed to harmful substances or chemicals 

Or if you have multiple patients with the same symptoms in the same locality

WITHDRAW and call for support
