Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Always follow your employer or agency's own PPE policies, and wear ALL uniform and PPE supplied and required within your role

Don't have the PPE you need?   STOP!

Personal Protective Equipment 

No body fluid exposure risk? Use your own judgement, you may not require PPE

Moderate body fluid exposure risk? (e.g. minor blood loss, urine etc) - minimum PPE should be gloves +/- apron

High body fluid exposure risk? (e.g. spurting blood, active vomiting etc) - minimum PPE should be Gloves, Apron, and Eye protection 

Road Traffic Collisions:

-ALWAYS wear hi-visibility clothing. Ensure it is clean and worn correctly.

-Inside a crashed vehicle? Wear your issued safety helmet or cap. No helmet? DO NOT ENTER

-Glass or sharp objects? Wear safety gloves if issued

-Ensure approved safety boots are worn at all times

Water Rescue

-NEVER work alone in or near water

-Water approved safety helmet to be worn at all times - DO NOT wear a standard safety halmet or cap

-Personal issue PFD (perdonal flotation device) to be worn at all times

-Approved dry suits should be worn correctly 

-Utilise throw bags or safety lines 

-DO NOT enter the water if unsafe or untrained

-DO NOT get within 5m of the water's edge if not wearing appropriate PPE

-ALWAYS use bouyancy aids, safety rings of PFD's when in or near water
